Eric is an Anthropologist teaching medical anthropology and history at the very intriguing Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington.
Storytelling – In many ways and places; a lost art.
He shares about Illness Narratives.
- What they are and what is meant by “telling the good story”.
- Why are these important?
- How does storytelling serve both the teller and the listener?
Illnesses shift our stories… A ship wreck that comes along and shifts how we see ourselves and tell our stories. “Story telling repairs broken narratives”.
(And, why we should take our physician out to coffee and maybe have a bit of hope as new physicians come into practice??)
