Wendy and her crew of the Good Food Bank at the Table Community Food Centre in Perth, Ontario, Canada not only feed hungry people in their region with healthier food options and health awareness leading to life style change – The work they do has a health positive effect on those they serve and, impressively, reaches out into the community in a pretty big and multifaceted way!
Wendy talks about how this has come about… some intentional, some by happy accident.
It is fun and really impressive.
We talk about her perspective on the challenges of living in poverty, and discuss inspiring “lenses” we might look through when giving to our local food shelves in food, funds or our time.
Since the first conversation I had with Wendy while doing some research for a class project in college, not only was I inspired and wanted to have a go at some of these ideas where I live, but I also wanted to help share the ideas out into the world for others to be inspired and take any nugget that they could… be they a worker at a food bank or simply a community member. The podcast was still in zygote form… but HERE WE ARE! It has come to fruition! (Ya, I know… my community health geeky enthusiasm is showing!)
